City of Las Vegas Mayor Pro Tem Gary Reese, Nevada TMC Management and other community partners are making the holidays a little brighter for some Ward 3 families in need.
A holiday celebration will take place Saturday, Dec. 20, from noon until 4 p.m. at the Encantada Apartments, located at 401 N. 28th St. The event will be held in the clubhouse and courtyard areas of the complex.
Families in the neighborhood are invited to enjoy live entertainment, dance crews, face painting, holiday tree and vehicle raffles, games, prizes and refreshments.
“This holiday extravaganza will be a great way for residents in the Encantada area to get to know each other and spread a little holiday cheer,” Mayor Pro Tem Reese said. “I want residents to come together, have some fun and get involved in their communities.”

The Las Vegas City Council gave the green light today to submit to the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) a $20.6 million Neighborhood Stabilization Plan that will help neighborhoods hard-hit by foreclosure. The city’s action plan outlines how $20.6 million from a HUD Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) will be used to assist neighborhoods with high foreclosure rates.
The high rate of foreclosures in Las Vegas has left many homes vacant and vulnerable to blight and crime. The Neighborhood Stabilization Program was created with $3.9 billion dedicated to states, counties and cities throughout the country to stem the decline. HUD began meeting with localities in September of 2008 with a December 1, 2008, deadline to submit plans. According to the proposed plan, the funding will be used to make bulk purchases of foreclosed homes in the top zip codes where foreclosure rates are, or are projected to be, among the highest in the city.
